Trend Trackers is an interactive, problem-based learning supplement for students in grades 7-10 that engages students as data scientists working to improve human health and well-being in the fictional city of Springfield. Working in teams, students collect, analyze, and interpret data to investigate socio-scientific challenges such as high rates of flu, asthma, and food-borne illness in Springfield. Across each chapter, students generate evidence using personalized websites and WebVR experiences on a computer, then bring their evidence to a collaborative lab meeting where teams work together to propose evidence-based solutions.
